What Improvements Should You Make Before Selling?

Written by Bill White on . Posted in Selling

We are here to answer a great question from one of our viewers today. They want to know, “Should I make major improvements to my home prior to putting it on the market this spring?”

My first thought goes to what your budget is. We see sellers have a tendency to over-improve their properties. We don’t want you to overspend because you likely won’t see all that money back in your home sale. We want you to make improvements that will add value, not take away from it.

My second thought is to consider design aesthetics. We want to make sure you keep in mind the next person buying your property. We want them to see themselves living in the home, so painting in neutral colors is a good idea.

Sticking to a schedule is important.

My last point is this: let’s set a schedule and stick to it. We’ve all had weekend projects that end up taking a month’s worth of weekends. We want to stick to a schedule so we can get your home sold and you can be in your new one before the end of spring.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to give us a call or send us an email. We look forward to hearing from you.
